I switched from a K&N oil filter over to a Mobil 1 oil filter this last change. It's clear from design and from several factory stamps that the SAME factory makes both filters- however, there are some key differences.

the K&N rates itself as 90% efficient (while your average filter (which is most likely a fram) is only 87% efficient), the Mobil 1 says it is 99.2% efficient. This is apparently because it uses both synthetic and non-synthetic fibers (blended together) in its filter element. the synthetic fibers apparently let it be more efficient, yet not restrict oil flow, which is important.

The design of the anti-drainback valve is slightly different. it looks like a solid design in both filters.

also, since you can purchase the mobil 1 at wal-mart, it's about 3 dollars cheaper than the K&N filter. talk about a sweet deal!

June is well on its way here. I'm going to order both a comptech header and a tanabe exhaust; I'll post some pictures- hopefully of the whole build.

slotted and cryogenically frozen? interesting.

I'm really glad I didn't just "jump" into getting the AVS ES100 tires. first off, the bfgoodrich g-force sport is a better tire (for not a a whole lot more) and secondly, I found THIS:

This is the Bridgestone Potenze 960AS pole position. it is an ultra-high performance all season tire (offers summer tire performance in an all season tire, and it has possibly the highest wet traction rating I've seen- also, the dry traction rating is comparable with that of the AVS 100 and the g-force sport). It has a better treadwear than your average summer tire, and it isn't a WHOLE lot more (it is more. just not a ton more- say, 25 dollars more a tire... and there are summer tires that are way more expensive). It will also last twice as long as most summer tires.

Additionally, it will last longer than the current tire I have on my car. Which in fact is already almost dead. I'm not really impressed with michelling exalto grand touring type tires.
